Old Fashioned Style, Catablanca Wows

Now, I’m a huge fan of the elegance of old movies. That’s why I’m so glad that HandiLand Studios has decided to remaster and re-release the 40’s classic, Catablanca.

Catablanca is a story of love and courage. The handsome Catfrey Catgard is stuck between his love for Ingy Purrman and his duty to his fight for his city.

Almost as important as the love story and the bravery of fighting dark foes in a shadowy time is the city of Catablanca itself. It is almost another character in the movie.

Catablanca in North Africa is a beautiful stretch of desert on the very verge of war. Out of the shadows there rises hope and virtue, valor and despair. It made this movie critic want to buy the first ticket to Catablanca and never look back.

Maybe it’s my longing for a simpler, faraway time, for life inside a fairy tale. Since I can’t – since nobody has invented the time machine, calling all HandiLand scientists! – I’ll settle for spending two hours taking in the rich tapestry of this movie.

The sound has been completely redone and the movie has been cleaned up, sharpened and released in lovely, beautiful black and white.

I give Catablanca: TWO THUMBS UP!

Scratcher Says: A trip back in time. The drama and romance here is worth seeing again.

Catbert Says: A magical visit to another world. People forget the classics but this one refuses to be forgotten!
