How to Get Rid of Music in Your House

September 30, 2009

If you want to turn off music on any room in your house, go to the “Decorate House” button from your Score Cards page or from within HandiLand.

Then click on the “Music” tab in the room decorator utility and click on the red X music note icon in the tray. This will get rid of a particular piece of music in that room. Click on another piece of music to launch that in the room or leave it without music.

HouseHunt: MaterG

September 30, 2009

MaterG has established a clean and modern look for his house here, and we’re thrilled to feature him for this week’s Catwalk. The woodsy living room yields a huge gourmet kitchen and dining area that any Cool Cat could crave for their culinary adventures!

For the Master Bedroom, there’s a clean and lovely take on the room where everyone can relax and lean back. Here we’ve got a wardrobe, couch and bookshelf area where the resident can relax.

A cool house from MaterG, where friends are always welcome. Stop by and check it out. Until next time, we’ll be House Hunting!

Retro Glamour

September 30, 2009

This look has a great sense of fun and cool, with the beautiful dress made hip by the cool Tattoo Artist hair. She’s also got her fairy friend hanging around for all the good times.

We like how the highlight details in the hair match the fairy’s coloring and contrast so well with the bright blue of the dress. Overall, a perfect outfit to wear out on the town, for good times with friends!

Preppy Princess

September 23, 2009

With everyone back in school, it’s no surprise that the preppy look is in this fall. Here, we’ve got the quintessential preppy teenager, but with a little bit of unique personality mixed in. Chester32 has the gorgeous blonde locks of the All-American teenager. She’s also got the cheerleading sweater and purple skirt.

But we also get her personal style — with the black sneakers that give the whole outfit a casual vibe — and her passion for pets. This could easily be a school outfit, get worn to the big game and then transition easily to hanging out at home with family and friends!

How to Share Rooms on Facebook

September 23, 2009

If you haven’t been on Facebook yourself, it’s a great website where people who are friends can share things with each other that they think are fun and interesting. They also keep in touch with their buddies, much like they do in HandiLand!

If you’ve seen the “Share on Facebook” button at the bottom of every screen when you’re looking at a house, that just means that you can share a picture of the house you’re looking at with friends on Facebook.

Once you find a room of your own house — or a friend’s house! — that you want to share, simply click the “Share on Facebook” button. Handipoints will take a picture of that room automatically. Then, ask your parent to sign in to their Facebook account and the website will post the picture, just like that! This way, your parents can show all their friends what you’ve been doing in HandiLand!

HouseHunt: Pinkie Star

September 23, 2009

This week’s House Hunt cat is named Pinkie Star and we love the house she’s created. It is simple yet fun and inviting, with a theme for the living room that we haven’t seen before: safari! Here’s a closer look at that:

Next, we’ve got a fun backyard scene where Pinkie Star plans on having BBQs for friends. There’s lot of room to sit and tons of space for having fun. As usual, there’s also a water slide for special guests!

Pinkie Star has also created one of the best kitchens we’ve seen:

Here, there is a dark burgundy color that really warms up the room, and a fireplace that is inviting. Some kitchens have a white and stainless steel color scheme… this one is inviting, like a bubbling pot of pasta sauce! Until next time, we’ll be House Hunting!

HouseHunt: Jolie

September 8, 2009

Jolie, who has changed her username in the last couple of days but who is very familiar to the folks who read the Cool Cats Magazine, is our House Hunt cat of the week with her simple and thoughtful house. As you can see in this picture, she has organized her rooms by color. Her main room is a moody blue galaxy sky with other shades and hints of blue mixed in.

For a lighter hue, above, she’s given us an entire light blue room that reminds us of the daytime sky on a breezy spring day. It is very relaxing.

The green alien room, above, has a different vibe which we also enjoy. She’s got computer stations and yellow, green and black windows on the walls. Jolie has a spare style, which means that she doesn’t cram a lot of furniture in her rooms… We think she has just the right amount to make the room feel decorated and not empty. She’s also a big fan of putting a centerpiece in the middle of the room and then putting other objects close to the walls. This is a great strategy and makes the room look bigger! Until next time, we’ll be House Hunting!

How to Stay Safe In Chat

September 8, 2009

HandiLand now offers Safe Chat for those users whose parents allow them to interact with other cats and type their own chat. This is great news — cats who have wanted this feature for a long time will be happy!

It’s also great news for parents that we’ve got filters in place to make sure cats don’t say anything mean or give away personal information. Even so, there are always precautions you can take to be even more safe than you already are.

Here’s how to stay safe in chat:

  • Never give your name, school, address, phone number or email address out over chat.
  • Never talk or respond to anyone who is asking personal questions.
  • Don’t fight, be mean, swear or curse… You will be banned.
  • If anyone is ever being mean to you or asking personal questions in chat, do not respond to them, take down their username and report them to our support department.

It’s our job to keep you as safe as possible in HandiLand but you should know how to look out for yourself, as well. Have a fun, safe and entertaining experience using Safe Chat in HandiLand!

Punk Beauty

September 8, 2009

Dantera’s mix of punk rock red and black and a pretty pageant crown and hairstyle is an interesting take on opposites. In school, sometimes two different types of cultures — drama geeks and band geeks, jocks and math club members — clash. Beauty queens and punks is as opposite as two styles can get… until now!

The blonde hair and crown makes the outfit more girlie while the clunky shoes and black corset top give the make-up an edge it wouldn’t normally have. In your clothes this week, try playing with contrast!

HouseHunt: The Great Karlee

September 1, 2009

We visited and very much enjoyed the abode of a casual and creative Cool Cat this week: The Great Karlee… and, just like her name, she is indeed a great find for cats who want to see what a very cool house looks like.

You will never run out of snacks and cold milk at The Great Karlee’s house, because she’s got refrigerators aplenty for all your snacking needs. This kitchen is nice, open and airy, with a nice central table that serves as a focal point. It’s got plenty of room, just in case Karlee wants to have some Cool Cats over!

She’s also got a very nice place for sleepovers, in case all that milk and cookies makes her friends drowsy. Her bedroom is wide-open, airy and has enough beds for a great slumber party.

Lastly, The Great Karlee has made a very lush and green outdoor space with plenty of fun things to do for all her friends. There’s an apple orchard motif and plenty of playground slides and monkey bars so that cats can amuse themselves all afternoon long. A cool house like this will make a great place to hang out over the long Labor Day holiday weekend. Until next time, we’ll be House Hunting!
