Happy New Year!

December 31, 2008

The Handipoints family is wishing you and everyone you know and love a safe, happy and joyous new year and a happy 2009!

Room With a View

December 24, 2008

I like cookies has it down when it comes to fine dining. They’ve put a lovely little dinette set right up against a window in their Cool Cat’s house. Imagine sitting down for breakfast or lunch with this kind of view… draped on either side with elegant curtains… squinting into the bright sun.

This really shows us that I like cookies was thinking about their Cool Cat and their Cool Cat’s experience when they designed their house. Bravo! Until next time, we’ll be House Hunting.

Livin’ The Plant Life

December 24, 2008

Everyone has been talking about “green” this and “green” that lately. Since your Cool Cat’s house doesn’t exactly use energy or need its light bulbs switched out to planet-friendly CFLs, it’s a little hard to live up to the green message in HandiLand. But bubble gum 6 has figured out how she’s doing her part for the planet!

Here we’ve got two rows of beautiful tulips and even some bright green bamboo to liven up the place and give it a very natural, very environmental look. Did you know that having plants in your house can boost your mood and make you breathe better? That’s because plants release fresh oxygen when they go through photosynthesis… that’s how our planet got so much oxygen in the first place!

Until next time, we’ll be House Hunting.

Giving Back for the Holidays

December 18, 2008

We knew that Zane Abercrombie, Captain Ironhook’s nephew, had a heart of gold. Somewhere under that argyle sweater of his! Well, he’s proved it today. Because I saw him at the HandiLand Soup Kitchen, serving soup to the less fortunate. And he was volunteering his time, not caring one bit whether his khakis got splashed on or not.

“I never thought I’d see you here,” I told him.

“Yeah, it’s something I like to do, because the holidays are great in my family, but other families aren’t so lucky.”

“Where’s Mitzy?” I asked. Him and Mitzy Meowerson have been going out For. Ever. They’re totally the golden couple of HandiLand and Garfield Academy.

“She’s not here today.”

“You couldn’t drag the beauty queen out to the soup kitchen?”

“I really want to. Maybe one of these days, I will.”

“What’s your favorite part of doing this?”

“Well,” Zane said with a chuckle, “I leanred how to swing a lot of food this summer when I was on the Pancake Skipparr with my uncle.”

“I wish you’d work there again, those pancakes were out of this world!”

“Since Uncle Ironhook is docked in HandiLand Harbor until further notice, that’s a real big possibility.”

“You don’t want to work in you Dad’s office?”

“Nah, I like working with food.”

Oh, yum! After the Celebrity Chef Bake-Off a few weeks ago, it looks like HandiLand will keep being a delicious — and wholesome — place. Thanks, Zane, for doing your part. That’s all for MEOW!

XOXO

How to Help Mom in the Kitchen

December 18, 2008

With the holidays RIGHT around the corner, you’ll probably be helping Mom and Dad out a lot when it comes to cooking. Holidays are wonderful, but for your parents, who’ll probably be having guests over, there are also some stressful times. Help out and you’ll take some of the pressure off your parents… not to mention, of course, rack up Bonus Points!

Here are some tips:

  • Ask Mom or Dad what you can do
  • Watch out for the oven… they might be opening and closing it a lot. Choose a “work station” at the counter that’s far away from the oven door.
  • Do the dishes without asking. I know… I know this sounds like a lot! But when you do the dishes without asking and clear some room, your Mom will have more space to work. And she’s most likely putting off doing all those dishes. If you do the cooking dishes that pile up every hour or so, that’ll make the clean-up after the meal go much more smoothly.
  • Do something easy. This might sound like a no brainer, but you should do something easy… especially if it’s something you’ve done before. The whole point is to help Mom, not to ask her “How do I do it?” every two minutes. You also don’t want to do something that’s easy to screw up… since that’ll just stress her out more.

With these tips in mind, you’ll have smooth, hassle-free holidays for you and your parents.

Party of Two

December 18, 2008

When no one else is hanging out in your house, you tend to feel a little lonely, don’t you. Well, one Cool Cat, creamcheese, has up the honorable duty of making sure his house is never empty…

Creamcheese has invited the superhero statue and the Parisian can can dancer statue over for games and tea! Now there’s always company over and they’re having a great time. And when other Cool Cats stop by, there’s plenty of room at the table for a whole lot of fun. Until next time, we’ll be House Hunting.

Rock The House

December 18, 2008

What’s a great house for your Cool Cat if you don’t enjoy it yourself? Here’s a perfect example of a house that’s cool for visitors and a house that’s cool to relax in when they’re gone… Tiki Tiki Tembo — this week’s Househunt Cool Cat — has put a video game machine and a refrigerator right next to his Cool Cat’s bed.

This accounts for any midnight snacking AND any game breaks he needs to take while he’s napping. That also means he doesn’t really have to leave his bed. And with the winter temperature the way it is… that’s a wonderful thing! Until next time, we’ll be House Hunting.

Ve Vill, Ve Vill Rock You

December 18, 2008

Talk about dressed up and dressed down! Cool Cat Kenobe matches his basic Handipoints shorts and sneakers with the ultimate in high-fashion: the vampire coat. He’s even got an evil vampire doggie to do his bidding!

Okay, we might have gone overboard on that last one, but this outfit still caught our eye in HandiLand. We’re looking for awesome Cool Cat guys to struth their fashion stuff. The girls have been dominating the Catwalk and we’d love to feature some dudes at long last. If you think you’ve got what it takes, leave a comment here.
